Creative
industries have been Christopher’s livelihood and passion for over
a decade, working in fields as colourful and varied as his artwork. At
29 his experience includes giftware designer, exhibited artist, set finisher,
trompe l’oeil (trick of the eye) muralist and head scenic artist
on many of Hollywood’s biggest feature films.
His recent credits include scenic artist on Daybreakers (2007), Fool’s
Gold (2007), Superman Returns (2006), Aquamarine (2005) and The Proposition
(2004). He’s just finished working on the high-budget US film Fool’s
Gold starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, which saw him creating
sets at Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast and North Queensland’s
beautiful Port Douglas. His CV also includes work on various commercials,
television series’, film clips and sets for Queensland Theatre Company
productions.
Christopher believes his behind the scenes work is a constant influence
in his artwork, but he’s also inspired by the environment, people
and places. “Everyday I get paid to experiment with paint, allowing
me to carry these effects over to my work with often unexpected results!”
This local artist uses mixed medium and acrylic on canvas to create visually
impressive artworks known for their diversity. He has been represented
in several solo exhibitions, covering subjects from marine life to beachscapes
and figurative portraiture. His works never fail to attract interest from
buyers and often receive wide-spread media coverage. In fact, his exhibition
‘Colours of the Coast’ was one of the most successful opening
nights in The Blue Dolphin Gallery’s history, fuelling extensive
media coverage.
Christopher regularly donates proceeds from this artwork to the Australian
Conservation Society and participates in the Cerebral Palsy League’s
Art for Art’s Sake every year. “I love to paint so if I can
help make a small difference to a great cause then I’m happy to
do it”
