As a figurative sculptor, Stephen Glassborow, has had a life long passion for working with the human form. He completed a degree in fine art – sculpture in 1978 at the Brighton College of the Arts in the UK, and now lives and works in Australia. As a contemporary sculptor, he has always had a desire to experiment with the framework within which he can place the figure. Glassborow forms the figures in his sculptures from a blend of the real and the abstract, drawing his inspirations from Greco - Roman ruins, art deco forms and contemporary abstracts. His sculptures begin with a pose or a phrase, and by drawing the idea down on paper he begins to develop the piece's concept. He then creates a scale drawing, from which he builds his clay original. He sells his work around the world, and has public pieces in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Boston, Laguna Beach, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Seoul. Stephen exhibits regularly in the United States as well as Australia.
