Tessa Dodds works in a variety of styles and mediums – from simpler decorative pieces to elaborately realistic sculptures and paintings. She is particularly adept at creating stunning and unusual abstracts, figuratives and stylised works using gold and silver leaf – a medium of which she is especially masterful. Her sculptures are also of the highest quality in technique and effect. Dodd’s sculpted wall-hangings, created in plasters, bronzes and various materials, are completely unique, and feature divers, swimmers, and beautiful nudes who emerge from and dive into the wall, adding dimension to the wall-space and creating a very impressive illusion. artist statement My background is in Interior design and decoration, Trompe L'Oeil painting, gilding, faux marble and timber graining, These disciplines echo through my art as I like to work with colour and texture and enjoy the manipulation of different mediums, metal leaf, resin, oil, wax , whatever the subject calls for - overlapping techniques to capture the images I want to create. My inspiration comes from many things, living by the sea on the Bellarine Peninsula its impossible not to be entranced by the water in all its moods and the changing colours of the grape vines and fickle Victorian skies.
