Seductive, enticing and simply beautiful – the paintings of Carly Casey explore what it is to be a sexy and empowered modern woman. Carly captures the female spirit in all of its glory, from subtle gestures of repose, to gutsy and bold statements. Carly was born in 1983 and grew up on Sydney's northern beaches. Being part of a household of art and creativity, it was an obvious progression for her to take up art as a passion. Carly's art work for her final school exam was selected for exhibition in Artexpress, a state-wide collection of major works exhibited at the NSW Art Gallery and the National Art School. Carly gained a Bachelor of Design from the University of New South Wales' College of Fine Arts in 2006, while working part time as a designer. Her sensual, figurative oil paintings on canvas combine her skill for realism with a seductive, contemporary edge, which is undoubtedly influenced by her studies in design. When asked what inspires her, Carly says "Women are beautiful. In my paintings and drawings I try to capture that intense inner and outer beauty, hopefully creating a connection with the viewer. I myself am continually learning about being a woman, and also the many facets and relationships that make up being a person - and these are all things that I try to explore in my artwork". At this early stage of her career, her work is already held in collections in Asia, the USA and Australia.
