Paul Colbey began his extraordinary artistic career in the suburbs of Sydney, where his passion for creating began. Being surrounded by talented family members, and influenced greatly by the need to work with his hands, Paul, along with his sisters and brother, helped their mother in a production of intricate plush toys that were sold throughout Sydney.

Their interest developed to the task of sketching and painting, which developed with further studies at school. Paul was strongly influenced by his brother John Colbey, who was at the time, beginning his career and establishing a place in the art world. Paul sees his brother as a 'role model' and with John's tutoring, began Paul's journey to his creative style today.

Paul moved to Melbourne, where over a ten year period, established a name for himself. He managed 'Tolarnos Gallery', and exhibited his work along side the likes of Mirka Mora, as well as painting murals in the foyer of Tolarnos Restaurant and The Beaconsfield Hotel, for the Ress Family.

Wanting more inspiration, Paul moved to and now resides in Noosa, where his art has flourished.Spending three months each year in L.A., painting and selling his work through a private resident gallery, Paul is now spreading his diverse works throughout the American market where it is received with favour.

Paul has had his finger in a lot of pies, ranging from spray painting murals on cars, to being a hairstylist in top salons along the east coast of Australia. He has managed restaurants and galleries that have hung his works for public viewing while his photographic work has graced the pages of magazines, calendars and greeting cards.

As Paul looks toward a new medium to explore and conquer, his longtime passion for photography, incorporated with his painting, will surely be brought to the forefront of cutting edge art, for all to enjoy.
