MATT

|
Travelling through the UK and Europe in 1983 was to be the catalyst for Matts commitment to art as a profession. Upon his return, studies at several Sydney art institutions presented opportunities in graphic design and illustrating with publications such as Women’s Weekly and New Idea. During this time he continued to develop his personal artistic interests through diverse outlets such as public murals as well as the more traditional painting. Matt moved interstate to work with World Expo Brisbane in 1988 - again specialising in murals, costume, parade vehicle design and maintenance. 1997, and with a well established Brisbane graphic design partnership, he was to design logos and support material for many high profile clients including: 1997 World Masters Games, Kingfisher Bay Resort, Compass Airlines and Brisbane's Warana Festival. Around this time he also worked with the Queensland Art Gallery in design and marketing as well as Nature Works, a company that creates large scale 3-D public art and commercial projects for film sets and major theme parks both nationally and internationally. The cycle completed, Matt is now himself the teacher - passing on his
experience of over two decades in the arts as a professional. While teaching
at the Design College of Australia and guest lecturing at various schools
around Brisbane he also continues to produce his own distinctive art.
Vibrant in colour and energetic in technique combined with his unique
perspective fertile with originality, his paintings offer the viewer a
sometimes profound but more often than not, tongue and cheek view of our
world.
