Katrina Read's inspiration is her surroundings. She says "Australia has such a variety of landscapes and colour, and I constantly find myself drawn like a magnet to the ocean. We have a real beach culture and spend a great deal of our lives outdoors. I am constantly inspired by the way it all comes together with no class or cultural boundaries when you go to the beach!"

In 2005 she was invited to participate in the Australian Government’s (through Austrade) art initiative called ‘Ausgallery’. Seventy-five artists were invited to participate in this campaign which will be seen at Austrade office around the world.

During 2000, Katrina lived in the West Indies and developed her ‘Serene’ collection of marine and beach feature pieces for exhibition at the Trinidad Country Club. All of the pieces sold to collectors from Trinidad & Tobago and North America.

Read has a long history of industry experience not only as a recognised fine artist, but in a broad range of print and television media. She has produced television programmes and is also an accomplished children’s book writer and illustrator.
