Self-taught artist Lori Pensini creates humorous and naive figurative works, which capture her fanciful ideas and emotional perspectives against an Australiana backdrop.

Her art has been described as ‘post-impressionist’ and ‘naïve’ - but her uniquely stylised characters seem to blur the boundaries between these categories and others.

The link between all her works is that Pensini’s art always tells a story, or communicates an interesting impression of the world that goes beyond a simple scene or landscape.

Her prize-winning art is highly sought after by collectors.

To live a solitary existence on a cattle station in remote Australia is to say in the least, character building. It is godforsaken and empowering, laughable and just plain frustrating, and it is in these extremities dry bush humour is a powerful teacher. Pensini recently relocated and muses now at how she has bought unwittingly to her urban existence those quintessential bush
survival skills -the ability to laugh at oneself .

Her paintings bear fruit from such humour. They are simple interpretations of human emotions and coping mechanisms. They are bold canvases saturated with colour, subject matter is diverse and they are illustrated naively in blends of Australian bush and every day life. She paints purely by mood and enjoys telling stories, unfinished, hers or others, sense provoking.
